Dear Fellow Golfers,

What a British Open! Tiger Woods, the perennial favorite, misses the cut but Tom Watson, one of golf's all-time greats and nearly 60 years old plays his heart out with a chance to win on the final hole. While Watson didn't win, he did demonstrate what is great about golf, that players of all ages can compete against each other fairly, within the rules of the game. Every day at Highland Rim I see players of all generations such as a grandparent with their son or daughter and grandchildren teeing it up together and enjoying their time together. It's difficult to do that in baseball, football, or many other sports.

August 16, 2009 Two Person Best Ball Event 2 PM Shotgun Start

Come and join the fun!!!

Last month's two person "shamble" saw players of all ages participating (see picture above). We had young and old paired up, young and younger, fathers and sons. Everyone had a good time but we want to attract even more players this month, both men and women. Since the events are flighted, everyone has a chance to win. If we get more than 60 players, John has agreed to "season" the pot with an additional $300 in prizes. The August event will be a a best ball format and is again open to players of all skill levels: men, women and couples. You just need to play in a team of two. Each player plays their own ball into the hole. The best score of the two is recorded. The event is flighted so players of all abilities have a chance.

FEES: $55.00 per person or $110 per team. $10 per player mulligans available.
Includes Round of Golf, Dinner, and Prizes

Reminder: Play 100 Holes of Golf Free and Help the Boy Scouts

Through The Green - Highland Rim is helping the Boy Scouts raise money to send financially challenged Scouts to the 2010 National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill. You can help to raise funds by obtaining pledges for 100 holes of golf which you must then play in a single day. For example, raise a total of $10 per hole in pledges to raise $1,000 for the Scouts. Golfers play free 100 holes of weekday golf (no holidays), and receive lunch, soft drinks, and a dozen balls for participating. You must raise a minimum of $10 per hole before playing to participate. How To Create a Player Profile and Take Advantage of Internet Only Specials On-Line

To simplify making your tee time and have 24/7 availability you can now set up your own player profile. You enter your information only once, choose a user ID and password and you're all set. For future bookings just enter your ID and password and then go directly to choosing your day and time.

To create a player profile just go to www.ttggolf.com and click on Tee Time Specials on top of the page. Then click "create profile" on the specials page.
