Dear Fellow Golfers,

You may notice something different from our previous newsletters: our header now includes our new golf course logo and shortened name! If you haven't been at the course lately there has been a lot happening. Our new tee signs have arrived along with our new GPS units. The granite tee signs have already been positioned at each hole and the GPS units are installed on every cart. To check out what's happening click here.

Did you ever wonder what happens to all those balls your playing partners hit into the ponds on our course? Do they just sink into the primordial ooze on the bottom? To see the article and pictures about what happens scroll further down the page.

Pat and his staff have continued making improvements to the course. New drains have been installed along the #2 tee box eliminating the soggy turfgrass after heavy rains. Over the winter we have developed a three year Master Plan for Highland Rim which will improve your playing experience but also allow us to remain Nashville's best value in golf. I'll be updating you often so when you see Pat and his gang take the opportunity to thank them for their efforts.

Highland Rim Golfers Corner: What Happens To All Those Balls?

We've all done it. Tee it up on #8 or #16 with the intent to hit a perfect shot. But somehow our ball ends up in the lake. Did you ever wonder what happens to that ball? At Highland Rim each year 5 - 10,000 balls are hit into the ponds. If it's any consolation that's only one ball for every 6 golfers. At TPC Sawgrass just on #17 they fish 120,000 balls a year from the pond. That's 1.5 per golfer!

Every year a company comes from Indiana to fish the balls from our ponds. I thought you might appreciate how its done. Rawhide Golf brings 2 tractors to the course along with the special ball picker seen below. After pulling it through the lake several times they strip the balls and bag them into sacks. This year alone they removed over 12,000 balls from the ponds.

New Visage RT GPS Units Installed

Our new GPS units are in!
We are only one of 5 courses in the country to have the Visage RT units from
GPS Industries. Seen at left is Tom Doerr and Emory Henley watching GPSI
techs Justin and Brian install the first unit.

All carts have the new GPS units and give more accurate yardages to all the greens.
In the coming weeks the final installation of software will take place and give us all
the features and more that we were used to with the UpLink system.
